The trailer for Todd Strauss-Schulson's festival darling THE FINAL GIRLS has its first trailer and I'm quoted three times in it. Pretty awesome. See it on October 9th.

"Upstream Color is a very rich and layered movie, but it’s also rich and beautiful." Quoted on the new poster with many of my favorite colleagues for Shane Carruth’s UPSTREAM COLOR.
Extremely honored to have my review of LIFE ITSELF quoted in the trailer, the documentary on the late, great Roger Ebert.
Trailer:
One time I was in a movie called JANE EYRE, kind of. Below is the kind and endearing email from the film's director, Cary Fukunaga (SIN NOMBRE), explaining why GordonandtheWhale.com's logo appears in the film, and a screenshot of where said cameo takes place. This is one of those defining moments in my career as a film critic when I thought, "I must be doing something right."
(Note: Cary gave me his full blessing to post the email he sent me. What a guy.)
The GATW sticker I gave him:
And here's the screenshot from the film. This takes place toward the end when St John Rivers (Jamie Bell) is talking to Jane Eyre (Mia Wasikowska) in the school's classroom. What a cool moment in my life.
My pal Weston Green even conducted a hilarious interview with Fukunaga about it.
RUDDERLESS is now available on DVD. Delightfully humbled my review is quoted on the cover.
First time in print. Flaunt Magazine — The Frankenstein Issue (139), out now. This is way cool and such a huge deal for a guy who started out writing for his little silly movie website eight years ago.
(Read the digital version of the article on Flaunt's website.)
BAD TURN WORSE is a slick crime flick. Stoked to be quoted in the trailer!
My Film Threat review (when it was titled WE GOTTA GET OUT OF THIS PLACE): http://bit.ly/1ep0Z1B
Here's the trailer:
Fun with puns. Thanks to Ethan Anderton from First Showing for sending these - I’m told it premiered during the Daily Show. Way Way cool.
Pulled from my 2013 Sundance review.
Quoted in Australian teacher for the excellent horror film, THE LOVED ONES. Watch it below.
